A Journey of Triumph and Connection

Sometimes travesty brings triumph. Sometimes burdens bring blessings. That's been my journey as a Breast cancer Survivor. Diagnosed in November 2024,first consultation with an Oncologist January 2025 and Central Healing was launched February 2025. Initially, it was an idea written with a black marker on giant Post-It sheets pasted on my bedroom wall for over 2 years. One day I would get to it. The next stop on my breast cancer journey was an elective Double Mastectomy in April 2025. I was still working full time as a Registered Nurse, still caring for my two children with the youngest being nonverbal with Severe Autism. These were hard times for my family especially for me. Recovery from the Double Mastectomy took 4 months due to delays in wound healing from the unaffected breast....urghh. However during that timeframe, Abigail's Song was born. The story had been written 3 years prior when my daughter was 6 years old. It was merely another simple journal entry so I thought at the time. Unbeknownst to me, God had a plan. My inner voice or spirit had always loved writing and wanted to explore it but I never had the time. Fast forward 3 years to Double Mastectomy recovery, God made the time for me. During prayer/meditation one morning, the message received was,"Do something with that story." My response,"What story?". I chuckle to myself now reflecting on that moment because I knew nothing about anything outside of nursing. Publishing, authorship, marketing, entrpreneurships were all foreign concepts that scared me almost as much as the diagnosis but there was a sense of comfort because I was doing what I was asked to do. Therefore, there was also bubble or in my belly that I dove into. My mission gave me life again and I loved it. By October 2025, Abigail's Song was self published and available on Amazon, Barnes & Nobles online, IngramSparks and Lulu. I'd created my own website centralhealing.org. A month later, I'd sold 50 books on Amazon alone. By December, I'd secured an offshore offset printing relationship and by April of 2026 exactly one year from my Double Mastectomy as well as the first anniversary of Central Healing, LLC, I'd sold over 1,000 copies of Abigail's Song. Didn't realize it until later because I was focused on the mission. God's mission. As an parent of a child who is nonverbal with severe Autism, it's hard but there's a beauty that I wanted to share with others. There's a normalcy within the complexities that can be understood by the public. That normalcy is based on the life force of connection. Abigail's Song is about connection while offering guidance through the complexities of Autism within the nonverbal sector. Central Healing, LLC carries that mission of connection through it's publications which by popular demand will become a series.
